In this week’s AJHQ+A, Enchanted Rockyproud asks Tierney Thys: “Is kelp a seaweed?”
If the conditions are right, some kelp can grow one and a half feet per day! When a large area is covered in kelp, it is called a kelp forest. Like tree forests, kelp forests provide food and shelter for many animals, including fish, mammals like seals and whales, and even some birds! When all these creatures come together, they create an ocean community that is almost bigger than any other underwater biome!
