The legend of elves came from Germanic (Northern European) mythology. According to the stories, elves had magic powers and were extremely beautiful. They were also said to not care very much for humans and could use their powers to help or hinder them depending on their mood.
Now there many varieties of elves that come in all shapes, sizes, and abilities!
